Duck and fish

Nikon D3s c. February 2010
Thanks to the fish circling the duck, the composition looks good, although it would have been better if the picture had been taken directly overhead. To do that, one would need to have a prop for a photographer to shoot from above.

Swans, KL Bird Park

Nikon D3s c. February 2010
This was taken in bright sunlight. Focussing on the whites resulted in having the water underexposed, thus accentuating the mood. There is nothing special to this photo after all but I simply like the picture without any suggestions of any meanings or messages. So there.

Russian tourist with birds

Nikon D3S c. February 2010
These birds will perch for food, as long as there are bird seeds in the hand.

In earnest conversation

Nikon D3S c. February 2010
Parakeets in conversation, oblivious to humans, seemingly to gossip or to discuss world politics. If they had been any nearer to the shade, the loss of light may not render them clearly as seen now.

Bird

Nikon D3S c. February 2010
I am no bird watcher and so, I do not have the slightest knowledge of its kind. But its type were seen standing and posing at strategic spots at the KL Bird Park that had me wondering if they were told by the park ranger to stand and be noticed by photographers.

Waterfall, Kuala Lumpur

Nikon D3S c. February 2010
The bright sunlight hitting the water droplets formed a lingering rainbow just above the water surface.

Sleeping swan, KL Bird Park

Nikon D300 Sigma 300mm c. February 2010
Despite the strong sunlight, there were still possibilities to be more creative. As usual, I prefer the sombre mood, so that the available illumination suggests rather than give the blatant depiction of the image.

Birds, KL Bird Park

Nikon D300 Sigma 300mm c. February 2010
I thought these birds looked good as red against white, like the colours of the country's flag.

Flamingos, KL Bird Park

Nikon D300 Nikkor 300mm c. February 2010
This was taken in bright sunlight. By focussing on their white bodies, the camera was fooled into underexposing the image. The rendition is much better compared to the photo I took of flamingos at Sea World, San Diego about 15 years ago.

Swan, KL Bird Park

Nikon D300 Sigma 105mm Macro c. February 2010
I had thought that I would just spend an hour or two tops at the world's largest bird park. I was miserly with the shots, the "so what?" critique constantly droning in the mind. With my friend, Satya, we spent more time than that and slowly that "so what?" negativity dissipated as the place offered possibilities to be creative. Such was the picture above, presented as is.

Patterns

Nikon D3S c. February 2010
I was particularly attracted to the patterns of the water encompassing the reeds. The setting sun provided the slight illumination, suggesting some metallic-like surface.

Light streaks

Here is another one using panning to provide that illusion of movement.

Ampang Lake, KL

Nikon D3s c. February 2010
There was not much to capture at the lake. This image was inspired by Nine, who started to be creative with his camera and captured a few through panning resulting in blurred images of the buildings in the background while the lake seemingly remained unchanged. So I tried his style and took a few.

KLCC

Nikon D3s c. February 2010
It would have a good shot but for the many glares from other light sources. I should have been more patient by paying attention to the details but then the night was warm and humid and I was thirsty and sweaty. The building lights were switched off just after I took the shot at 12.00am.
